Setting up Macintosh OS 8.0
These instructions are written for Macintosh users with one of the following system configurations:
- System 8.0
- System 7.6.x with optional Open Transport PPP (OT/PPP) installed
- System 7.5.x with both Open Transport 1.1.1 or higher and Open Transport PPP (OT/PPP)
If your Macintosh does not meet one of the above requirements, please contact PCI to obtain a copy of our software and instructions.
Configuring Open Transport TCP/IP
- Open the TCP/IP control panel
- In the resulting dialog box, select "Connect via PPP" and "Configure using PPP Server" from the appropriate pop-up menus
- In the "Search Domains" box, enter "PCISYS.NET"
- In the "Server Address" box, enter:
- 207.76.102.251 For Colorado Springs
- 208.198.212.250 For Denver
- Press the 'Return' key on your keyboard
- In next field for the "Server Address" box, enter:
- 207.76.102.252 For Colorado Springs
- 207.76.102.251 For Denver
- Press the 'Return' key on your keyboard
- Close the TCP/IP window
Configuring Open Transport PPP (OT/PPP)
- Ensure that you have selected the correct modem in your modem control panel, and that your modem is on the correct port. Open the "PPP" Control Panel
- This will open a dialog box. Select that you are a registered user
- In the name field, enter your userid
- In the password field, enter your password. Select the "Save Password" checkbox if you do not want to be prompted for your password every time you dial in
- Phone numbers:
- Colorado Springs V34 (719) 457-0008 and 14.4 (719) 572-5707
- Denver V34 (303) 418-0005
- Click the "Options" button. This will open a dialog box with three tabs
- Select the "Redialing" tab
- Select "Off" in the drop down menu
- Click the "Connection" tab
- Check the "Connect Automatically when starting TCP/IP Applications" box
- Select the "Protocols" tab
- Check the "Allow error correction and compression in modem" and :Use TCP header compression" boxes
- Click "OK"
Connecting to PCI Systems Network
Ensure that your modem is connected to your computer and turned on, then click the "Connect" button in the PPP control panel. A dialog will now appear as the modem dials the numbers and connects to with PCI Systems. You may also use one of the many scripts OT/PPP provides for your use.
